From the Hamptons to the Adirondacks, New York's smaller fields put you closer to the destination than any commercial routing. East Hampton, Republic, Westchester, Saratoga, Ithaca, Lake Placid and the Hudson Valley.
Private jet charter in New York is rarely about JFK, LaGuardia or Newark. The state has a deep network of regional and executive fields, and for most trips one of them sits far closer to the actual destination than any commercial airport does.
That gap is widest outside the city. Flying into Saratoga County rather than Albany, Lake Placid rather than Burlington, or Ithaca rather than Syracuse can remove well over an hour of driving. On Long Island the calculation is similar in summer, when the drive east from the city airports is the single worst part of the journey.
Privado is an independent charter broker. We do not own or operate aircraft. We source them across a network of more than 5,000 aircraft worldwide, every operator holding an ARGUS or Wyvern safety rating. New York in particular rewards getting the aircraft and airport pairing right, because several of the most desirable fields have short runways, slot rules or curfews that rule out the obvious choice.
The airports we most often use across the state, grouped by region. Runway length varies widely here, and it is the main factor in which aircraft can serve which field.
| Airport | Code | Region | Serves |
|---|---|---|---|
| East Hampton | KHTO / HTO | The Hamptons | East Hampton, Southampton, Sag Harbor, Bridgehampton. Longest runway 4,255 ft, light jets and turboprops. Access rules have changed in recent years. |
| Montauk | KMTP / MTP | The Hamptons | Montauk. Short runway, piston and turboprop only. Not a jet field. |
| Republic | KFRG / FRG | Long Island | Farmingdale, Nassau and western Suffolk. Common Hamptons alternative for larger aircraft. |
| Long Island MacArthur | KISP / ISP | Long Island | Islip, central Suffolk County. |
| Westchester County | KHPN / HPN | Lower Hudson | White Plains, northern Westchester, Fairfield County CT. Slot and curfew rules apply. |
| Hudson Valley Regional | KPOU / POU | Hudson Valley | Poughkeepsie, Rhinebeck, Millbrook, Dutchess County. |
| New York Stewart | KSWF / SWF | Hudson Valley | Newburgh, Orange County, West Point. |
| Saratoga County | K5B2 / 5B2 | Capital Region | Saratoga Springs, Ballston Spa. Busy through the racing season. |
| Floyd Bennett Memorial | KGFL / GFL | Capital Region | Glens Falls, Lake George, southern Adirondacks. |
| Lake Placid | KLKP / LKP | Adirondacks | Lake Placid, Whiteface. Short field, light aircraft. |
| Adirondack Regional | KSLK / SLK | Adirondacks | Saranac Lake, Tupper Lake. Longer field than Lake Placid. |

Runway figures are given only where independently confirmed. Several New York fields carry slot restrictions, curfews or noise rules, and East Hampton in particular has been subject to changing access arrangements. Aircraft suitability depends on runway length and condition, payload, weather and current airport rules. We confirm all of this for your specific dates as part of every quote.
A sample of the trips we arrange most often into and out of the state. Any of these can be flown one way, return, or as a multi-leg itinerary.
The summer Friday classic. A short hop in a light jet that replaces a drive of four hours or worse on the LIE.
Racing season access straight into Saratoga Springs rather than driving up from Albany.
Island to island without routing through Boston. Popular across the summer season.
The winter migration south. Comfortable nonstop in a midsize jet with a full passenger load.
Cross-border business routing with customs arranged at both ends as part of the booking.
A Finger Lakes connection that is genuinely awkward commercially and straightforward by charter.
Routes shown are illustrative examples of trips we arrange and do not represent scheduled service. Nonstop capability and payload depend on the specific aircraft, weather and passenger and baggage load on the day.
New York punishes assumptions more than most states. The airport closest to your destination is frequently the one your aircraft cannot use, and the honest answer is sometimes that a slightly longer drive from a longer runway is the better trip.
East Hampton is the clearest example. It is unquestionably the most convenient field for the Hamptons, but its runway restricts it to smaller aircraft and its access rules have shifted repeatedly. For a group of ten with luggage, Republic is usually the real answer.
We would rather tell you that upfront than put you on an aircraft that has to divert. Every quote we send states which field the aircraft can actually use and why.
East Hampton (HTO) is the closest field to East Hampton, Southampton and Sag Harbor, though its longest runway is 4,255 ft, which restricts it to light jets and turboprops rather than larger aircraft. Republic Airport at Farmingdale (FRG) and Westchester County (HPN) are the usual alternatives for bigger aircraft, with a longer drive or a short helicopter transfer at the far end. East Hampton has also been subject to changing access and use restrictions in recent years, so we confirm current rules for your dates.
Generally no. Montauk (MTP) has a short runway that limits operations to piston and turboprop aircraft. For jet access to the eastern end of Long Island, East Hampton sits about 15 miles west and is the practical alternative. We will tell you plainly if the aircraft you want cannot use the field you asked for.
Saratoga County (5B2) serves Saratoga Springs and the racing season, Lake Placid (LKP) and Adirondack Regional (SLK) serve the Adirondacks, Ithaca (ITH) and Elmira Corning (ELM) cover the Finger Lakes, Glens Falls (GFL) serves the southern Adirondacks, and Plattsburgh (PBG) and Watertown (ART) cover the north country. Runway length varies considerably between these fields.
Teterboro in New Jersey is generally the closest business aviation airport to midtown Manhattan and the most requested. Westchester County (HPN) is often the better choice if you are heading to Connecticut, northern Westchester or Fairfield County, and it can have more availability during congested periods. Both are subject to slot and curfew rules that we work around when planning.
Pricing depends on aircraft category, origin, dates and availability rather than a published rate. Peak Hamptons summer weekends and the Saratoga racing season are the most constrained periods in the state. Send us your route and passenger count and we return a written quote with real aircraft options, usually within the hour.
Yes. New York generates a high volume of empty legs, particularly on the corridor between the New York area airports and Florida, and on Hamptons repositioning flights through the summer. If your dates are flexible these can reduce cost meaningfully. Tell us your route and we will flag anything suitable.
